Spring is here, and while COVID rages on, the usual roster of gaming events will majorly be online again this year. While the in-person interactions and destination travelling will be missed for most events, the tech and gaming industry still knows how to keep things fun and interesting with full line-ups of speakers, discussions, and presentations. Below are a few of the best coming up soon.
April 14 – 16
By using a special Discord server, GI Live will make it easier than ever to enjoy speeches by some of the industries top names in game development, publishing, and investing. Learn how Xbox develops and releases games for the platform, find out about the next generation of VR gaming, join a roundtable discussion or advice session, and attend the new awards ceremony, the Indie Publishing Awards – all from the comfort of your gaming chair.
April 21 – 22
If you want to take it further than just gaming and are looking to get your foot in the industry door itself, the Finland Games Job Fair might be up your alley. There will be plenty of opportunities to mingle and chat with leading games studios about what you can offer one another. The Finland Games Job Fair motto is “Always on Recruitment,” so the event will serve as a platform to connect recruiters and talent which will be accessible for 2 months.
April 23 – 26
LudaNarraCon is a digital festival that celebrates narrative games, hosted by Steam. Created by indie label Fellow Traveller, the con will celebrate and take full pride in the unique story-telling ability and heart of narrative gaming. Their aim is to replicate as many benefits of a physical convention experience as possible within digital format. Speakers will discuss interesting narrative games and the indie industry, brainstorming growth for the future, and there will be plenty of game demos from exhibitors as well.
April 28 – 29
While no panels or speeches are listed on their event page, GamesBeat Summit promises to be the most intimate gaming event in the industry. This will be their 12th annual executive summit featuring top industry leaders, with their focus in 2021 being on new content creation and growth that supports mental health, inclusion, next-gen updates, and major industry changes to come.
April 30 – May 2
This free online gaming convention has a fully fledged Virtual MMO, available to play for the 3 days during the con. Conceived in 2020, Game Con Online is an Indie Game & Board Game Convention, and was originally meant as a table gaming con only (eTableCon). However, its popularity proved fierce, providing the cons organizers with the opportunity to go bigger this year, branching out into all games – table, online, video, board, and more! The convention includes the MMO game and discord discussions!
Looks like fun back on the menu, boys and girls! We know all this gaming and chatting with the industry giants will get your hands clammy too, so feel free to keep your Gamer Goo nearby, maybe mention your dry-palmed secret in the Discord chat… Whichever works. Any other events coming up you want to discuss? Feel free to reach out!
